Are You Kainotophobic?

“Now I want you to know, brethren that my circumstances have turned out for the greater progress of the gospel, so that my imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole Praetorian Guard and to everyone else, and that most of the brethren trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear.” Philippians 1:12-14


As summer comes to an end and fall is knocking at the door, changes occur.... changes in schedule, changes in chores around the house, and changes in the summer routines to a more structured time for some of us. Some changes may be unwanted, but as we embrace the faithfulness of God and His promises we will grow through the time of change!

Recently, as we spent an evening with a group of dear friends, laughing, eating and sharing the goodness of God's faithfulness with one another the comment was made "this may be the last time when we will all be together like this again". (Many of you have said this concerning your family as well). The younger adults in this group have grown up with one another, and struggled together through many growing pains finally reaching adulthood as friends, and are now off going to school and working in ministries of their own. Throughout the evening the grandparent, parents and younger children listened to the stories of God's work in and through these adult children this past summer and their plans of ministry and further school this fall. They are becoming the men and women that God designed them to be.

Many of you are facing change also. If we continue to focus on the circumstances, and choose not to embrace what God has in store for the future we will miss many opportunities for growth and sharing God’s incredible hope with others. No matter what changes may occur, our focus, like Paul’s, must be to see what God is doing and join Him in His work.
